Alexis Kerr: Building Brands, Elevating Culture, and Leading with Purpose

Some leaders build successful careers. Others build lasting impact.

For Alexis Kerr, the two have always gone hand in hand.

As an executive leader, entrepreneur, brand strategist, speaker, and storyteller, Alexis has spent more than 15 years helping brands, organizations, and communities connect through purpose-driven communication. Her work sits at the intersection of culture, business, faith, and influence—where strategy meets storytelling and meaningful engagement creates lasting change.

Today, Alexis is the founder of Shining Diamond Media Group, a full-service marketing, public relations, media, and experiential agency that helps nonprofits, corporations, entrepreneurs, creators, and executive leaders tell stories that matter. Through her work, she has become known for helping organizations strengthen their voice, deepen their impact, and build authentic connections with the people they serve.

But Alexis's journey is about much more than marketing.

It is about visibility, it’s about representation, it’s about understanding the power of culture as a catalyst for transformation.

Before launching her own agency, Alexis served as Vice President of Hallmark Mahogany, where she helped guide the evolution of one of the most recognizable Black cultural brands in the country. Under her leadership, Hallmark Mahogany expanded beyond greeting cards and became a lifestyle platform rooted in celebration, connection, and community.

Her career also includes leadership roles with General Motors and Cadillac, where she led multicultural marketing initiatives designed to create deeper engagement with diverse audiences. Throughout each chapter of her professional journey, Alexis has consistently championed the idea that culture should not be treated as an afterthought—it should be valued, invested in, and reflected authentically.

That belief continues to shape everything she does today.

Whether she's advising brands, developing campaigns, speaking on stages, or mentoring emerging leaders, Alexis approaches every opportunity with a commitment to purpose and people. Her leadership style blends strategic thinking with empathy, creating spaces where innovation and authenticity can coexist.

As a speaker and thought leader, Alexis has shared her insights at national conferences, executive forums, community-centered events, and institutions including Harvard University. Her ability to connect business strategy with personal growth has made her a respected voice among professionals, entrepreneurs, and change-makers alike.

One of her most powerful moments came on the TEDxPontiac stage with her talk, Check the Thread.

In the presentation, Alexis explores identity, resilience, reinvention, and the stories that connect the different chapters of our lives. The talk serves as a reminder that purpose does not disappear during life's transitions. Instead, it remains woven through every experience, challenge, and opportunity we encounter.

It is a message that reflects Alexis's own journey.

Throughout her career, she has continually demonstrated that success is not simply about titles or achievements. It is about using your gifts to create opportunities, build bridges, and leave a positive impact on the people around you.

At her core, Alexis believes in helping people shine.

Whether she is guiding a nonprofit's mission, helping a company strengthen its brand, mentoring a young professional, or speaking to an audience searching for clarity and direction, her work is rooted in service and transformation.

Her story is a powerful example of what happens when leadership is fueled by purpose, culture is embraced as a strength, and influence is used to uplift others.

Through every role, every stage, and every chapter, Alexis Kerr continues to prove that meaningful impact begins with authentic storytelling—and that the most powerful brands are built not only on what they do, but on what they stand for.

And perhaps that is what makes her a true Face of Culture.

Not simply because of what she has accomplished, but because of the lives she continues to inspire along the way!!!!!
